Portable Bunds & Booms

Single Drum Portable Bunds

Storing just one drum of fuel or oil is easy and convenient with a portable bund from Northern Storage Solutions. A typical bund in this category may be manufactured from polyethylene, a polymer with a significant resistance to chemicals. It is usually UV stabilised for increased resilience, making it particularly beneficial when used outdoors or for anywhere requiring spill containment on a temporary or infrequent basis. The sump of a compact portable bund often has a capacity of around fifty litres.

PVC Portable Bunds

These bunds are manufactured from flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC). They include welded seams that are reliably leak resistant. PVC bunds are usually completely collapsible and simply have to be folded out and set up wherever they are required. Lightweight aluminium supports and buckle fastenings ensure they can be assembled without any tools. PVC portable bunds are an ideal choice when working outside in temporary locations. They are also valuable pieces of equipment when used indoors where space may be limited or if a liquid is only temporarily required. Optional base mats help protect the bund from abrasive floors. Typical sizes range from less than 100 litres to almost 1,800 litres.

Extra Large Portable Bunds

Super sized portable bunds often have capacities of around 10,000 litres. Manufactured from PVC, these spacious bunds are often used as temporary storage for IBCs and other containers while site maintenance is carried out. Their size makes them a perfect choice to guard against oil spillages when dismantling equipment. Extra large bunds provide a generous work space indoors or outside. They are particularly useful when changing the oil in vehicles or refuelling. PVC has a high resistance to chemicals making it useful when using detergents to clean the exteriors of equipment such as fork lift trucks. Although PVC is highly durable, this type of bund should be regularly inspected to check for any wear and tear that could encourage an unexpected oil spillage.
